Student Recognition Program

At Hudsonville Christian Middle School, we understand the importance of recognizing students’ academic and extracurricular achievements. Even a small gesture of recognition goes a long way toward boosting a student’s self-esteem and encouraging continued effort. It is also a way for teachers and administrators to express appreciation for student participation and involvement in our middle school programs.

Birthdays (grades 6-8)
Each student will receive a card, signed and sent by the team of teachers, for his/her birthday.  Birthday students will also receive a treat from Mrs. Broene on their special day.

Athletics/Fitness (grades 6-8)
Students who complete the 2.0 mile Fitness Feat course within 50 minutes are presented with a ribbon. The winners from each grade level are awarded additional prizes.

Fine Arts (grades 6-8)
Hudsonville Christian formally celebrates fine arts bi-annually during Fine Arts Night.  Students may choose to participate in various artistic expressions such as, instrumental performance as a soloist or part of a group, vocal, dance, and/or oral interpretation. All students have artwork submitted from their art class.

Academics (grades 7-8)
Students who achieve a B+ cumulative average for all Core 2 and Core 5 subject areas during a nine week marking period will be placed on an Honor Roll. This Honor Roll will be completely re-calculated for each new nine week marking period.  Students who have achieved an A- or higher cumulative average throughout middle school (6th – 8th grade) will be recognized at a year end chapel at the Middle School.  An Academic Achievement Certificate will be presented to each of the students at this time.  Students who qualify for this will receive a letter from Mrs. Broene and parents will be invited to attend the special Academic Achievement Chapel in the spring. The top ten graduates receive special recognition at the graduation ceremony.
