Strategic Plan
HCS is guided by the Word of God. God calls His people to carry out His plans, to trust the Lord with all of our being, and to ensure that the next generation knows the Lord and His praiseworthy deeds. Planning is a command from our God. We are called to set aside our own desires, and to seek the will of our God. We are called to submit to Him, and thereby to trust that He will direct our paths. He has called us to think beyond ourselves and to make plans today for the children not yet born.
A strategic plan is intended to be God-honoring. It is intended to place the school on the path of God’s choosing. The plan is a kingdom view to seek God’s will through prayer, scripture, and service. The plan is to keep our feet firmly planted on His path.
Strategic planning is intended to position the school in order for the school to thrive. Strategic positioning is a term that is often used in place of strategic planning. Together the terms help us to understand the strategic purpose – the HCS strategic plan is intended to guide us now and to position us for a future that honors God, advances His kingdom, and serves His children.
With the successful completion of the most recent strategic plan started in the 2011 – 2012 school year, the Hudsonville Christian School board and administration believed that 2020 was the right time to engage in a strategic planning review and process.
The process, which led to the 2020 – 2025 Strategic Plan, was intentionally comprehensive and thorough. The process began in earnest in February 2020 and was completed in December 2020. Data was collected through interviews and a community survey. The input was received from key stakeholders including the school board, administrative team, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Once strategic themes were identified, five teams were selected to develop specific themes into strategic goals.
Five major themes:
- Curriculum and Program Development
- Enrollment Development
- Facilities
- Faith Formation
- Sustainability and Affordability
The school board unanimously reviewed, approved, and adopted the 2020 – 2025 Strategic Plan which will guide the school for the next five years advancing the HCS mission and vision of challenging minds and lived for Christ.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of His heart through all generations.
Psalm 33:11 NIV
