Strong Foundation
The Hudsonville Christian School curriculum uses a model set forth in Our World Belongs to God: A Contemporary Testimony. There are four major themes in this document: Creation, Fall, Redemption and Restoration. We believe that “every inch of creation” is under the rule of God. Our teachers discern where the material to be taught falls within this framework, and then incorporate it into the curriculum. A copy of Our World Belongs to God is available for review in the HCS administrative offices.
Absolute Faith
We connect the story of God and His people to all learning through this framework of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. When your child studies wars, environmental issues, economics, literature, etc., he or she will be asked questions such as, “What did God intend for this part of Creation?” “What went wrong and why?” “How can we see God’s saving power here?” “How can we work toward hope and healing when presently there is brokenness?” Our students form their worldview from God’s Word as they learn about their world and develop their personal perspective on what it means to have a place in God’s Kingdom.
HCS Throughlines
HCS Throughlines are our over-arching values and commitments. Written by our K-8 teachers, these statements represent what each child will come to understand during his or her years at HCS.
