April 24 Home Communicator – So Much To Celebrate!
Over the last few weeks, there have been a couple of very special events that have taken place at HCS in celebration of our 100th Anniversary. In March, we held a lunch for former staff members of Hudsonville Christian. It was a room full of JOY! It was a beautiful thing to watch people enter the door, greeting friends that some had not seen for quite some time, all with a common love for the Lord and for Christian Education.
And this past Sunday, many people from our HCS community gathered together at the 100th Anniversary Celebration Service, where we thanked God for His goodness to Hudsonville Christian over the past 100 years. As a community, we were able to look back and reflect on what He has done in and through His people at HCS. In the words of HCS alumni, Pastor Dirk Koetje, “We praise God this afternoon for the wonderful resource that Hudsonville Christian School is and has been to God’s people in this community for 100 years”. He also encouraged each of us, in our personal devotion time with the Lord, to thank Him for this school and for the gift that it is. He also emphasized that there is no higher calling for parents than to bring their children up in the Lord, to pass down our faith to them, and help them develop it to become their own so that they, in turn, will pass it on to the next generation. He talked about how formative it was for him to be immersed, year after year, in a Christian school which looks at all of creation through the lens of scripture. What a blessing it was to see the many families represented at the 100th Anniversary Celebration, and to see so many generations gathered in one room.
The Lord has done and continues to do GREAT things through His people at HCS! Into the next 100 years, may we as the HCS community, continue to tell His story together!
In Him…
