April 26 Home Communicator – For the Beauty of the Earth
As you know, last Friday, April 22 was Earth Day. Throughout last week there were countless reminders about the need to be more intentional in preserving the earth and the environment. The reminders pointed out the many areas that need help and what the results may be if people don’t take these needs seriously. Nature is one of God’s beautiful creations. Through nature, God is able to teach us, speak to us, and provide for us. For this reason, we are called to protect all that He created.
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact of the world
around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide
what kind of difference you want to make.” Jane Goodall
This is important work as difference makers. But equally important is enjoying what He created and praising Him for the beauty of the earth.
In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Ps. 95:4-5
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Ps. 19:1
How many are your works, LORD!
In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small. Ps. 104:24-25
As I finish writing these verses I am watching a robin building its nest in the branches of the tree outside my office. As the robin works to make its home, it is singing at the top its lungs. What a beautiful song! And I smile and praise God for the beauty of the earth.
Serving an Awesome God,
