December 10 Home Communicator – Reflections on God’s Plan, God’s Timing, and “Thy Will Be Done”
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Ten years ago God led me to become the middle school principal at Hudsonville Christian. I have been tremendously blessed during those years. I loved every minute of those years. Every day I have thanked God for bringing me to Hudsonville Christian School. Now God has chosen me to go down a different path.
The last few weeks have been ones packed with many different emotions. Throughout these weeks, I have learned much about living a life that follows God’s plan and His timing. While my plan and timing were to retire at the end of this current school year, I have learned that my plan was not God’s plan. And my timing was not His timing. After Dan’s passing, I daily prayed “Thy will be done.” And what I have learned is that when praying “Thy will be done” we must be willing to accept that the answer may mean that my will be undone. So I go forward in my new role as interim superintendent in faith knowing that whatever lies ahead of me, God is already there. God is faithful!
Every day I will continue to thank God for bringing me to Hudsonville Christian School. I will ask Him to continue to use me to shepherd students in their faith journeys, to partner with parents in all areas of their students’ education, and to support and love the amazing HCS staff. Please pray for me in my new role. Pray for wisdom as I honor Dan Pott’s legacy and continue to uphold the mission and vision of HCS.
In Christ’s Service,
Mary Broene, Interim Superintendent
