February 12 Home Communicator – When people ask how Hudsonville Christian is distinctly living out its mission of “Challenging minds and lives for Christ”, there are so many examples that pop into my head. Take a peek with me at just one way we strive to live out this mission.
One of the responsibilities of my job is to continue to research and stay up to date with the latest findings and trends in education. Most of the time this includes exploring new subject area resources, with our teachers, for their use in the classroom. For some, this might seem like a tedious and cumbersome “duty” to fulfill, but here at HCS it is actually a very informative process. One of the foundational steps in this process is building a checklist of “must haves” for our school, teachers, and students. This list is based off of research, and teacher suggestions. The really cool part is every one of these resources and lists are made and viewed through the lens of “How can we challenge our student’s minds and lives for Christ?”
To truly do this, Hudsonville Christian firmly believes that our school is not just Christian through our Bible classes, but we strive to have “every square inch” of the school rooted in the truth of God’s Word. This means every curriculum resource, every lesson being taught, every job being done can be shaped and nourished by faith in Christ. “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Col. 1:16-17).
In Christ
