Owls. Last week our 4 School Nature-Based students spent time studying the way God created these amazing animals. It’s been so fun to see their eyes light up as they have learned about the unique ways God created owls. The teachers explained that owls have heads that turn almost all the way around or even upside down because their eyes are not able to move like ours. God gave owls incredibly sharp talons and feathers that allow them to fly almost silently to sneak up and snag their prey. Owls also have very sensitive hearing and their ears allow them to hear up to 75 feet away to detect the slightest movement of small animals—Amazing!!
Our great God created owls with all of these unique, remarkable features to help them survive in His creation. It is clear that God loves owls so much that He took time to intricately design them—and He loves US even more! What a beautiful reminder of God’s perfect design and love for each of us.
As I walk the halls at Hudsonville Christian, I see classrooms filled with children all made in God’s image. What a gift to know that God designed and created each of these little ones with a unique set of gifts and talents to make a big difference in His world! I also get to work with a wonderful staff of educators who all possess different, yet amazing gifts of teaching God’s children. As I think about how intentionally God created owls, it humbles me to think about how God took time to create each one of us and how He equips us to serve, learn, and work right where we are.
What a gift to be able to study God’s creation which points everything back to HIM! It is our prayer that students walk out the door knowing that God loves owls and all creatures in His creation, but He loves them even MORE!
