February 22 Home Communicator – The 4 Schoolers are starting a unit on the solar system this week, and I am so excited for them to learn and discover how incredible our God is by studying His creation! The solar system tells a story about our grand Creator, and we get a chance to stand back in awe of Him.
In Louie Giglio’s book, “Indescribable,” he explains that in our Milky Way Galaxy, scientists think there are between 100 and 400 billion stars. They don’t know the exact number because there are too many to count. However, the Bible tells us that God counts every one of them and knows them by name.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens.
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
And calls forth each of them by name.
Because of His great power and mighty strength,
Not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26
God knows and counts more than just the billions of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy. He also counts and names each star in all the other billions and billions of galaxies we know about—and the billions and billions of galaxies we have yet to discover! How awesome is our God??
When we take a step back and realize how gigantic God’s whole universe is, our minds cannot comprehend, and we stand in wonder. It is even more astonishing that the same God who knows every star’s name also knows each of our names.
As the 4 Schoolers begin their unit on the solar system, my prayer is that they can take a step back and realize how small they are in the vastness of God’s universe. And yet….each one of them is important to God. He knows them, He loves them, and He wants to be in a relationship with them forever.
Humbled by His greatness,
