February 23 Home Communicator – Thank you!
I often talk about this special place called the Hudsonville Christian School Community and this past weekend is a great example of what makes it so special.
This past Friday and Saturday, we held both a furniture sale and our annual Auction, and between the two events, more than $120,000 was raised for HCS and our Expansion Project. Beyond the dollars raised, however, was the building of community. This cannot be explained with dollars and cents. Very few people know the work of the Auction Committee that began almost a year ago; yes, only days after last year’s event ended. A very special thank you to Ben Scholten, Darrell Heuker, Kristin Meldrim, Fig VanderMolen, Dawn Verploegh, Jack VanderPloeg, Mike Wigger, Jim Dertien and Rachel Landstra who collectively spent hundreds of hours putting this event together.
We also cannot thank Talsma Furniture enough for all of the furniture they donated to our furniture sale. Over $46,000 was raised in the two-day sale and every single dollar that was raised was given to the HCS Expansion Project. It is because of the generous contribution of so many people like this that Christian education is alive and well in this community.
For 99 years, Hudsonville Christian School has been involved in this ministry and with support like we saw last weekend from committees and the greater community, it is our prayer that HCS will be around for at least another 99!
Serving Him together,
Dan Pott, Superintendent
