“Students, raise your hands if your grandparents love Jesus.”
Friday, April 14 was Grandparents’ Day at Hudsonville Christian Schools. This bi-annual event sees hundreds of Grandparents, as well as Grand-friends, spend the morning attending chapel, visiting with teachers and learning about what a school-day looks like at elementary and middle school buildings. This day is often remembered as a highlight from the year for our students!
The focus of the elementary chapel was on our school verse, Isaiah 61:11, where Isaiah talks of a garden where seeds sprout from the soil, just as our Lord will bring righteousness and salvation to His people. This is when students were asked to raise their hands if their grandparents love Jesus. Seeing more than 800 hands raised high in the air was a beautiful reminder that, undoubtedly, our faith cannot grow without God, but He also puts people in our lives to nurture the soil, roots, and sprouts of our faith.
We are thankful to the grandparents in our community for creating a legacy of faith. For the stories they have told to their grandchildren about how God has been faithful to you. How He continues to do so. Grandparents are the living stones that remind us of God’s faithfulness (Joshua 4:19-24). They are the Aspen trees that help new trees grow. After worshipping together and seeing all the smiles and big hugs, it is clear—this community loves Jesus and their grandkids really, really well.
