January 30 Home Communicator – Living Generously
We are so very thankful for the generous hearts of so many people in our HCS community. I have good news to share with you regarding some of the campaigns for which we have shared a need this year.
As you know, each year we have an annual campaign called the Faith Campaign. The funds raised go to support our families who cannot afford the full tuition at HCS, and also go toward building maintenance that is not covered by tuition. Because of the follow-up projects that stemmed from the Expansion Project, our building maintenance fund had been depleted. We had a great response to the Faith Campaign this year, and have come a long way to nicely replenishing that fund.
In December, the boiler in the west gym broke and was not repairable, and we were also advised to replace the roof in the west gym in the spring. Because of your generosity, the new boiler has already been installed, and the new roof will be installed this spring/summer. Praise God!
Plans are underway to create an outdoor learning space in the large grassy area in front of the west wing and west gym. The plans include planting a multitude of trees in that area, and we shared this need for trees with our grandparents, asking them to consider purchasing a tree in honor of their grandkids. We also received an incredible response to that, and you will see that some trees have already been planted, and more will be planted throughout the next few years.
This fall, we had a beautiful response to a matching gift opportunity at our Education Foundation Dinner and hope to have our first $100,000 payout to HCS next year. I also have the privilege of being a part of the auction committee, and we have been incredibly blessed with the donations coming in once again this year. It will truly be the “Party of the Century”! And lastly, I am excited to share with you that we do not owe any money to the bank for the Expansion Project. God has truly done amazing things through His people, and we are so grateful!
When you partner with Hudsonville Christian, you are among a special group of people who stand alongside HCS to help grow our precious students in the Lord. As followers of Christ, we are called to live generously. Jesus lived a radically generous lifestyle – giving freely with His time and gifts. As we are to be imitators of Christ, may we all live and give generously, as He did!
Serving Him and continuing to tell His story…
