March 21 Home Communicator – Spring is here in true Michigan fashion. The weather over the last week and the forecasted week ahead is a perfect example of the wide range of weather we typically experience as we slowly shift out of winter. And as eager as we may be to arrive into a pattern of warmer weather, this time of year offers a unique opportunity to marvel at our God. Year after year, we watch as nature springs back to life just as He designed it. Take a good look around and you’re bound to see some plants starting to peep through the soil! We welcome such signs of life in otherwise dreary surroundings!
It’s so fitting that as we go from “the dead of winter” to being surrounded by renewed life, we anticipate a time of remembering the death and resurrection of our Savior! We deeply desire for all God’s children at Hudsonville Christian to know and understand God’s story well enough that it would be written on their hearts. That’s why the Kindergartners are beginning to memorize the Easter story found in Matthew 28. And why students in first grade are committing a few more verses of that story to memory. By the time students are in second grade, they will have memorized the whole story, from the moment Mary Magdalene and the other Mary go looking for the tomb to the moment Jesus sends them to tell the others the good news, “He has risen!”
God’s creation displays how He can bring the dead back to life. His Word beautifully shows two women who knew Jesus to be dead but instead found He was alive! Their grieving and sorrowful hearts were mended and they, too, were brought back to life with an unbridled hope and enthusiasm to share the good news. We pray that our students make these beautiful connections in this unique season and find themselves celebrating the gift of life in Jesus Christ!
