March 8 Home Communicator – A lot of energy has gone into making plans and focusing on the future at HCS this year. No doubt you have heard about our plans for the Expansion Project and the excitement surrounding the upcoming 100-year anniversary for Hudsonville Christian School. I want you to know, however, that while we are looking ahead with great excitement, we are also focusing on best practices “today”.
Two years ago, we were visited and subsequently approved for accreditation by Christian Schools International. Along with the accreditation, there were goals that we set for Hudsonville Christian. These goals are benchmarks but also reminders of the things we see as vital to an excellent school. As a leadership team, we discuss these things often just to ensure that we are making progress. Today, we met with our School Improvement Team and spent time looking at each goal and discerning our progress.
I thought it would be good if you were reminded of a few of the goals for HCS:
- Assure HCS continues to provide a distinctively Christian education.
- Align our content areas to the state and national academic standards.
- Continue to improve the use of student data on standardized tests to inform instruction which will lead to increased student achievement and differentiation in the classroom.
- Continue the process of integrating technology into our educational programs.
Through your children, I pray you can feel, hear, see and sense His presence in what we do at Hudsonville Christian each day, because integrating Him into all we do is still the most important task we have each day. I hope you can see striving for excellence in and out of the classroom is also something we work toward each day.
If you have any questions about these goals or anything else, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note or give me a call.
Serving Him Together,
Dan Pott, Superintendent
