May 1 Home Communicator – Continuing to Tell THE Story
It is hard for me to believe that we are now in the month of May. The school year has zoomed by and will rapidly come to a close. We have the Walkathon this week Friday. In the middle school we are looking forward to the Justice unit study in 6th grade; the Stewardship unit in 7th grade; and 8th graders will soon start reflecting on their faith walk throughout their years at HCS by designing their Faith Journey projects. I am sure there are a number of things that the elementary students and staff are looking forward to as well. All are opportunities to continue to tell the story
Our school theme – Telling the Story – has been meaningful and powerful. It has been full of opportunities to both reflect on and celebrate the story of God’s faithfulness to Hudsonville Christian School. The exciting thing is that we still have time left in the year to continue to do so. The following quote is one that I love; it is simple yet powerful in its message – “Be careful how you live – you may be the only Bible some person ever reads.” I am not sure if this quote is based on Ephesians 5, I Timothy 4 or both, but it certainly summarizes what those verses tell us.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity…but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
I encourage you to be intentional in this for the rest of this school year, realizing that each day will provide an opportunity to tell THE Story. We can do this in small and easy ways. Continue to reflect on how God reveals Himself daily to you and then decide how you are going to be a part of His Kingdom’s story. By doing so, you can continue to tell THE Story.
Yours in Christ,
Mary Broene, Middle School Principal
