Principal’s Note – Blessings!
Hudsonville Christian School is blessed! I know that you have heard this before but it bears repeating and is reason for celebration. There are many blessings on which I could focus but I will narrow them down to a few from the last few weeks.
The Mayoms, the refugee family HCS is sponsoring, continue to transition quite well. They have new neighbors who are refugees from Afghanistan. The mom, Flora, and her daughter, Josephine were reflecting with Mrs. Sietsema, sixth grade teacher, on all the things that the Mayoms have done in the last two months since they arrived here…how much progress they have made. Mrs. Sietsema remarked, “God is good.” And Josephine responded, “All the time God is good.” Amen to that! Here is a Google presentation that gives a glimpse of a two- month update you can view: http://livingbeyondmyself.weebly.com/update-blog. We are praising God for a good adjustment. Please pray for Flora and her son, Bruno’s, job search that has just begun. We have been so blessed by our involvement with the Mayoms.
This past Friday was the Walkathon. All day long students were walking laps to help raise monies that help support the many programs and activities at HCS. We are so blessed by the overwhelming support of parents, grandparents, sponsors, and other individuals who love HCS. The Walkathon efforts were celebrated in the evening with a community dinner, prizes, and entertainment. The blessing of community was evident, especially when eating s’mores while watching Mrs. Byker, Mrs. Hoogeboom, and Mr. Broersma spend time in the dunk tank. (For these teachers, it was a blessing that the water in the tank was warm!)
Also on Friday, the 7th grade class worked at The Salvation Army Little Pine Island Camp getting the grounds cleaned up and ready for a season of campers. While all of the work needing to be completed wasn’t glamorous and fun, students and staff were blessed to be a blessing to others.
This is just a small sampling of our blessings here at HCS. Let’s acknowledge, celebrate, and be grateful for these and the many other blessings that have been given to us. God is indeed good; He is good all the time!
Humbled by His Blessings,
Mary Broene – Middle School Principal
