May 25 Home Communicator –This week, our 4 School students will finish out their school year and have graduation. It brings a smile to my face thinking about 4 and 5 year olds wearing a graduation cap, holding a diploma, singing songs of worship, and ending a year of learning. It also makes me pause and reflect. The end can bring so many different emotions—excitement, fear, sadness, and gratitude.
Graduation is a time to look back. The week before school started in the fall, teachers and staff gathered on the front green space for a time of worship and prayer. I remember singing the old hymn, “Because He Lives.” As we sang the words, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow…..Because He lives, all fear is gone” I had tears streaming down my face. We didn’t know what the future was going to hold, and we had many fears of the unknown. However, we did know Who held everything in His hands and Who would be faithful through anything we would face.
As this school year comes to an end, we can clearly see God’s faithfulness. We see a year of amazing learning for our students, a time of field trips to explore new things, a place where new friendships were made, and a season of growing more in love with our Savior. We praise God for His goodness!
Graduation is also a time to look ahead. There will be new teachers, new friends, and new things to learn and discover. We don’t know exactly what that all will look like, but we do know that God has each of these children in His hands and He has big plans for them! Just as we sang at the beginning of our school year, “And life is worth the living, just because He lives!”
Praising our Savior for His faithfulness through it all!
