May 26 Home Communicator -Standing Firm and Moving Forward
Greetings, Parents. The 2019 – 2020 year has been one where we have definitely had to live into the school theme verse – “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” I Corinthians 15:58 Thank you for remaining a strong community of faith and remaining firm in His Word amid all the challenges and events that have occurred this school year.
And it is because of our faith in God that we look ahead and move forward with the many plans to continue to advance the mission and vision of Hudsonville Christian School. One of these is the plan for schooling in the fall. As I shared in my Thursday 5/21 email, we are in the process of planning schooling in the fall. I wish that I could give you a definitive answer with all the details of what school will look like in the fall. At this point in time, I cannot. As we plan for school starting in the fall, please continue to pray boldly for this virus to be contained and our plans to resume in-person instruction in September to come to fruition. We want to be back in the classroom with your children. We also must make the decision that is best for all our HCS families. We will be transparent in our work and will keep the HCS community updated as plans develop and are finalized. We continue to do the important planning work and hope to have this work completed sometime mid to late July. We continue to move forward.
Strategic Plan – Work on this continues to move forward as well. Thanks to the survey results and the work by various stakeholder groups, five areas of focus have been identified – Curriculum Development and Program Enhancement, Enrollment Development, Facilities, Faith Formation, and Sustainability and Affordability. Soon, task force groups for each area of focus will begin their work. A final Strategic Plan will be presented to the School Board for review and approval by the end of November. Please pray for God’s guidance throughout this work.
Superintendent Search – Work on this continues to move forward as well. As the Hudsonville Christian School Board and the Superintendent Search Committee seek to find the person God has chosen to lead HCS forward, we sincerely ask that you partner with us in prayer. HCS is a community of prayer warriors. As a team, we recognize that prayer is a vital component of the process and we covet your commitment to faithfully support our work with your prayers. We are reminded that prayer is not just a process, but an act of worship and submission to our Almighty God and that He will provide us what we need. We ask at this time that you pray specifically for the following:
- Grace/Wisdom – Pray for grace and wisdom among the HCS family and members of the Board and Search Committee.
- Vision/Mission – Pray that the vision and mission of HCS will remain at the forefront of all decisions we face.
- Trusting God – Pray that we will trust God to direct us to the leader that He has chosen and we will be diligent in our search and after the heart and mind of our Father God.
We need to cover the entire process in prayer, even the smallest of details, so that we are confident as we proceed, that we are in the center of God’s will. Thank you for your willingness to support our efforts. We commit to faithfully praying Psalm 90:17
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.”
We also need and value your input regarding this search. We have a 5 question survey that we would love to have you answer. The 5 questions will give us valuable input that will help the Search Committee evaluatie possible candidates for the next HCS Superintendent. Here is the link to that survey – Superintendent Search Survey Link. Please complete this survey no later than Friday, June 5.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time.
Working together in Him,
Mary Broene, Interim Superintendent
