November 20 Home Communicator – It is so hard to believe in 2 days it is Thanksgiving! The recent splash of snow reminds us that winter is here. I am always torn when writing about Thanksgiving … so many things to be thankful for, both big and small.
You have often heard me say how thankful I am for my family … my personal family, and also my Hudsonville Christian family. What an incredible blessing they are to me and to so many others.
A few years ago, we asked our staff to reflect a bit on what they were thankful for, what brings them joy each day. I want to share with you some of the words from Mr. Erffmeyer, who retired just last year, after 41 years of teaching, “Imagine a job in which you can be surrounded by fellow Christians. Your work can literally have eternal consequences. You can openly share your faith and the love that you have for your Savior. You can spend time in prayer each day, on the job. You can spend time each week singing God’s praises or exploring His Word. You spend time with enthusiastic, energetic young people. Such is the job of a teacher at Hudsonville Christian. When seen in the big picture, it is the greatest job around. We should never overlook this or take it for granted. We need to remember what an amazing and unique opportunity we have.”
I know many of the staff share the same feelings. So this Thanksgiving, enjoy the friends and family you are blessed to spend time with and join us in giving thanks for this family called Hudsonville Christian School.
Serving Him together,
Dan Pott, Superintendent
