November 27 Home Communicator – Dear HCS Community,
Sometimes moving from Thanksgiving into Advent, I am tempted to sprint. My race focus can shift from staying in step with what God has for me and my eyes can drift from the Savior of the world to things that get me off track, like the traditions I want to fulfill, the presents I must buy, and the Christmas cards I have yet to send. Staying in step takes intentionality waiting, sometimes walking. My prayer for my family and yours is that this transition from Thanksgiving into Advent will be one where we stay in step with the Savior!
As a school, we are also staying in step with God’s leading as this spring we plan to Connect the Campuswith a connector learning space and usable west gym bathrooms. God, working through the generosity of the HCS community, has our expansion project debt-free at this point, and after walking with God, not sprinting ahead, it is clear that now is the time to Finish Well. A connector-style learning space joining the upper elementary hallway to the west gym building will provide safe and weatherproof access for class and community activities and offer an area for whole-class hands-on instruction. The project also includes plans to make existing west gym bathrooms usable for daily student use. We are so thankful to God for His leading as we seek as a school to stay in step with what He has for us!
May we all continue to stay in step this Advent season knowing even more fully the great love of the Father who sent His Son as the Savior of the world!
Running the race with you,
Rachel Landstra, Mission Advancement
