November 3 Home Communicator – This week is Spiritual Emphasis week at the Middle School and our theme is Living Stones. We will be focusing on our Living Hope, Living Stones, and Living for God. Each day of this week we will take the time as a middle school to dig further into God’s word found in 1 Peter. We will hear from speakers, staff, or students in homerooms through discussion, videos, and chapel and then build connections to our lives through these discussions and reflections in our journals for the week.
Our focus on Living Hope will look at how we have the opportunity for Hope in all circumstances, even in suffering, because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. The study of Living Stones will look back to the Old Testament, in Joshua, where they placed standing stones after crossing the Jordan River. We will talk about how they were used and what they signified. We will then read about our Living Stone and how our lives represent Living Stones in all that we do and say. Finally, now that we have heard these things about our Living Hope, and ways to be Living Stones, we will talk about how we can Live for God through the application of His Word.
Each year we try to have a visual reminder for the students of our themes for this week. In years past, this week has produced much fruit through lives changed, service projects lived out, and art reminders in our hallways. This year you will see in the front circle drive (bus loop) our Standing Stones. Hopefully this can be a tangible reminder to continue to live out what we learn over this coming week for weeks and years to come.
Below you can see our schedule for the week with the topics, passages and deeper questions our students and staff will be thinking, praying, and working through during these days.
If you have a middle school student, I encourage you to take time this week to follow up with your child and ask them about these themes. If you do not currently have a middle school student, I ask that you be in prayer for the middle school in the days ahead. Please pray that the Holy Spirit works in our hearts. That we can dig into God’s Word, discover His plans for our lives and be Light in this world.
In Christ,
Justin Knot, Middle School Principal
