October 10 Home Communicator – ArtPrize and God Art
Last week Friday, the middle school students and staff spent a day in downtown Grand Rapids taking in ArtPrize Nine. What a tremendously diverse display of art! What an overwhelming collection of artistic gifts and talents! God has truly blessed many people with creativity and imagination. We had a great time viewing the many entries, and we left appreciating the gifts that these artists blessed us with by sharing their talents. We also left knowing that as incredible as these art pieces are, we serve the most awesome and creative Artist! Thank you for your support of these experiences for our students. We are truly blessed!
The day before we went to ArtPrize, Mrs. Tamminga and Mrs. DeJong – our media center staff – led us in chapel worship. The title of their chapel was “God Art”. After viewing a clip of some of the amazing places and things of God’s creation, they read us the book “God Thinks You’re Wonderful” written by Max Lucado. The message that is given throughout the book is that each one of us is a divine work of art designed by God. Students and staff were reminded that each one of us has captured the heart of God, and His fingerprints are on each of us as His individual design. At the end of chapel, we were challenged to see the God Art – to see His fingerprints in the world around us, in others, and in ourselves.
Serving a creative and faithful God,
