October 19 Home Communicator – Chapel at Hudsonville Christian is a powerful thing. Every Friday, God uses the hearts and words of the elementary students to share His truths with the rest of the HCS community. This past Friday, Mrs. Caryl’s 3rd grade class led us in worship. Their focus was on finding our identity in Christ alone, our school theme for this year. During chapel, we sang In Christ Alone and, even though I’ve sung it hundreds of times before, a particular phrase from the song really resonated with me this time:
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Such a simple phrase, but isn’t this what it all boils down to? Our value, our worth, our identity–they don’t come from how much we accomplish in a day or how many followers we have on social media or how talented we are at our jobs or what kind of cars we drive or how much influence we have in our communities.
Nope. Our value, worth, and identity all come from knowing we are children of God and that Christ’s precious blood was spilled because of His immense love for us. These words from the Bible show just how much value we have in God’s eyes:
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were
redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
1 Peter 1:18-19 (NIV)
May you feel your true worth and value this week and find your identity in Christ alone.
In Him,
Tricia Kiepert, Elementary Principal
