– This past week our 3 School and 4 School students got to attend Visit Day and get a feel for school. It was so fun to see the little ones walk through the door—some with backpacks bigger than them! I couldn’t help but smile thinking of them getting their first taste of school.
As the 3 Schoolers sat in their classroom, they read a book called God Loves Me More Than That. The book explains that Gods’ love is deeper than an ocean, wider than a prairie, higher than a spaceship, and bigger than an elephant. What a beautiful truth. As parents we love our children SO much. Yet, God’s love for them is even greater! Our prayer for each of our students is that they will know and experience God’s deep, high, wide, and great big love this year.
After the book was read, each 3 Schooler got to reach their hand into the mystery box and pull out a gold coin. Their teachers explained that the gold coin represents a piece of treasure at the bottom of the deep ocean they just read about. They too are a treasure and God loves each of them so much!
What a gift and privilege to teach these students about God’s love. As we enter the year, we think of Jesus’ words, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Praising God for the gift of teaching these little ones this year!
