September 15 Home Communicator – What a blessing it is to be able to be a part of everything that goes on at Hudsonville Christian. As a former student, 6th grade teacher, curriculum director, and now Middle School Principal, as well as a parent here at HCS, I am reminded every day of how blessed we are to come to a place where we continue to strive to live out our theme this year of working together as One Body in Christ.
Starting the school year comes with a lot of moving parts: organizing schedules and classes, preparing teachers and classrooms, answering questions, cleaning the school and much more. It is busy, but I don’t tell you this to highlight the busyness, I tell you this to show one example of how our school exemplifies our theme for this year. You see, I alone do not, and cannot do all of these things. We are blessed with office staff who create, organize, sort, check and double check everything that comes through the office. We have teachers who understand the ins and outs of scheduling and who spend time preparing lessons and plans for a successful start to the school year. A janitorial staff that works countless hours to clean, fix, and build things for the year. Parents and Board members who blow up balloons, make signs, pray, and cheer students and staff on during these first weeks. Donors who selflessly give of time and money to support these efforts year in and out. To me this is the Body of Christ. We all have our gifts and when we work together in the unity of one mission, to provide the best education possible for our kids rooted in Christ, we are showing the world who Christ is.
I want to thank each of you for the many hours you put into this school year in whatever role it is that you step into, and I look forward to seeing this community continue to carry out our theme and mission at HCS through this year as we all work in unity as the Body of Christ!
In Christ,
Justin Knot, Middle School Principal
