September 19 Home Communicator – As I am sure you are aware, a lot has been happening in the last three years at Hudsonville Christian. If you have been around the buildings at all, you have seen new construction as well as renovation at the elementary campus. Just this past summer, we removed the old Unity gymnasium and made some modifications to the Band room and the West gym so our students can now use them. The middle school building as well has undergone some renovating and updating.
It is important to look to the future so that we can provide excellent facilities, both for now and for the generations to come. I believe we have positioned Hudsonville Christian School in an excellent place to grow for the future. Excellence, however, is not just about facilities but about instruction as well. I believe Hudsonville Christian is blessed to have a tremendous staff that continues to integrate faith with best educational practices.
Every five years our school undergoes a detailed process of accreditation by Christian Schools International (CSI). Three years ago, our school went through that process. Following the accreditation, we are required annually to submit a report to CSI outlining what progress is being made with the goals we have set. Last month I received some comments from the Christian Schools International Accreditation Team, and I thought I would share a few of them with you:
- Great progress on your School Improvement Plan (SIP) the last 2-3 years. Aligning curriculum and assessment based on standards is a great way to advance student achievement. Data-driven classroom instruction facilitates changes to meet the needs of all students. Appreciate your intentional faith nurturing and documenting. Self-reflection by students over the years gives the students an opportunity to see their own faith development. Tech integration has developed nicely given the supportive professional development.
- Several major accomplishments have taken place at Hudsonville Christian School as noted in your Substantive Change Report. Congratulations on these accomplishments and may God bless you as next school year you celebrate your 100th year of Challenging Minds and Lives for Christ.
- Congratulations on nearly 100 years of faithful service to your community. Well done. Good visionary planning going on as you open day-care and preschool options for your community. Almost debt free – Wow, well done!
I think it is important for you to know that, while we have been busy with construction, we have been equally as focused on making sure Hudsonville Christian continues to provide excellence in education rooted in God’s Word.
Standing Firm … Moving Forward.
