September 21 Home Communicator -“Rachel!” she said as she stopped me on my way outside the gym after class, “I just have to know. Where does it come from?” While I wish she was referencing my stellar effort, energy, and strength at the gym, she was not! You see, the person who stopped me was a new member of our HCS family. This mom, along with her husband, took a leap of faith this summer to transfer schools and enroll their 4 children at HCS. She and her husband spent time with our leadership this summer learning about the Christ-centered education their children would receive at our middle and elementary schools and how the school would partner with them to nurture their children in the Lord. After leaving one of those meetings, it was clear to both of them that HCS is where the Lord wanted them to enroll their 4 children. While the Lord’s gracious confirmation was a gift to their family, the sudden addition of a tuition bill for their 4 children was a reality that was quickly setting in as it would be for many families in this transition!
Nevertheless, this family took the step of obedience, enrolled their children, and trusted that God somehow would supply all their needs according to His plan. It was after this mom learned about HCS’s tuition assistance program, applied for assistance, and found out her family qualified for and would be receiving tuition assistance that the question came.
HCS Family, it was all I could do to keep my emotions in check when I had the privilege to explain to her that it was from you. Those of you who have been at HCS for a while know that tuition covers only the cost of educating the child and that every tuition assistance dollar and every maintenance project to keep our building safe and effective comes from the Lord working in the generous hearts of this community. It is because of your generosity that this family can afford to enroll their 4 children and receive a Christ-centered education that will impact these little disciples for generations to come.
So, HCS Community, I answered, “It comes from your HCS family. We have a commitment to partner with every family who desires a Christ-centered education for their children and for over 100 years, our community has made that commitment possible.”
Our annual Faith Campaign is going on right now. It is our largest yearly fundraiser for Tuition Assistance and Building and Grounds Maintenance. When you receive that call from our calling partners, Milito and Associates, prayerfully consider giving whatever you can to this important campaign. Each dollar given in tuition assistance partnership the Lord will use for us to thankfully answer, “where does it come from” with, “It came from your family here at HCS.” Praise God, for He is good.
