The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.
Miss Jenna Boekeloo
I am a graduate of Calvin College where I earned a BA in Elementary Education with a math major and an integrated science minor. During my time at Calvin, I had the privilege of student teaching in fourth and fifth grade at Ada Christian School. I began my teaching career in Manistee, MI at Jefferson Elementary where I taught second grade. While teaching there, I had the opportunity to be the assistant tennis coach for the high school girls’ varsity tennis team. This past year I was blessed to teach third grade at HCS. I am excited to see what God has in store for my third graders this year.
I grew up in Kalamazoo where I attended the Kalamazoo Christian Schools. I continued my education at Calvin College. After I graduated, I moved to Manistee, MI. While I enjoyed my time there, I am excited to be back in the Grand Rapids area to live closer to my friends and family. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cooking, playing tennis, and spending time up north at Crystal Lake.
Community, in my opinion, is one of the most important parts of a healthy classroom. I want to build a community in my classroom that is built around loving God and loving each other. It is my goal that each day my students know that they are loved by God, by me, and by their peers. My hope is that each student in my class feels safe when they are in my classroom. I want it to be a space where students are free to express who they are. After teaching my first year in a public school, I am excited to be able to share my faith with my students. I am also looking forward to watching each one of them continue their own faith journey.
