Philosophical Biography

Psalm 150 says “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” This verse is the primary focus in my teaching. We serve a creative God and it is my job to help students develop their own creativity in service to Christ and the church. In many ways, band is unique in that groups of students (sometimes from different grades) are combined and often remain together year after year. In this sense a real bond forms within the group which leads to both musical and spiritual growth.  Ultimately, the purpose for which man was created was to glorify God. Music itself is uniquely suited for this purpose.  An ensemble is a fitting demonstration of a diverse group of people and instruments coming together to make a joyful noise of praise to our Creator. Whether we are performing sacred or secular music, all things ultimately point to the Creator Himself. When we perform good music well, every aspect of the musician’s being is directed toward to praising the Giver of all good gifts.
