Philosophical Biography

I realized God’s calling for me to become a teacher my sophomore year at Calvin College.  I was pretty sure growing up that I did not want to be a teacher.  This was because both of my parents were teachers, and I thought I wanted to be something else.  God knew better.  He directed me to education, and I have been thankful ever since.  I love teaching middle school students.  I love the energy they possess and the curiosity they have.  I can not see myself teaching anywhere other than in the middle grades.  Teaching at a Christian school was the only option for me.  I love God, and I don’t know that I could teach without being able to share this with my students daily.  I love sharing and discussing my faith in Jesus Christ with my classes.  I count it a privilege as well as a responsibility to teach every subject area from a Christian perspective.
