“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Mr. Matt Koets
I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a BA in Group Social Studies with an emphasis in History with an Elementary Teacher Certification. I have been at Hudsonville Christian since the fall of 2013. I previously had long term substitute assignments with Hudsonville Public in 3rd-5th grades, physical education and in a resource room. I was also a paraprofessional for one year in a 5th grade room with 32 students. In addition to teaching, I was one of Ridgewood CRC’s Youth Directors for 9 years. I worked with three other directors and we took care of the middle and high school programs.
My dad taught English and Social Studies at Allendale Christian Middle School for 40 years. My mom taught 1st grade in Hudsonville Christian’s old white building for 5 years and my sister teaches…nowhere! She works as an analyst in Chicago. I like watching hockey, playing hockey and rooting against the Red Wings and for the New York Rangers. I also enjoy volunteering for Starlight Ministries.
It is a privilege to work alongside students each day. I enjoy watching them grow and learn in Christ. It is important to help them learn about the world so they can play an active role living and serving in God’s wonderful creation. Each child has a unique set of God-given talents and it is our job as teachers to make sure they use them and continue to improve them! I am also a firm believer that a little laughter every day is a wonderful thing! That’s why I enjoy puns!
