“ Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Mr. Shane Schaap
I graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa in 2016 with an Elementary education degree and endorsements in math and science. I started my teaching career at Intermountain Christian School in Salt Lake City, Utah. I taught 5th grade and middle school math and science at ICS. I’m looking forward to my second year at Hudsonville Christian as one of the 6th grade Bible, Math and Science teachers.
My wife Cassie and I really look forward to getting to know people in the Hudsonville Christian community and are looking forward to moving into our new home in Hudsonville. We enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching/playing sports, and being outdoors with our dog Chauncey.
As a college student I was able to observe classrooms early on and through those classroom visits I realized teaching was what I wanted to do. God has put a lot of positive people in my life that have influenced me and shown me what it takes to be a great Christian educator. Christian education is something that I have known my entire life. Being a teacher in the Christian school has helped me see the value and importance of Christian education. It’s crucial that students are saturated in Christ’s love and I think that happens in a Christian school through the love and care of the teachers. My classroom is a place where students grow and learn. They’ll learn how to handle mistakes and use those mistakes to develop their own learning. As a teacher I strive to help students grow in both knowledge and faith.
