Colossians 3:15-17
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Professional Biography
I went to Pella Christian High School in Iowa and then to Calvin College. My majors were instrumental music education and flute performance. After graduating, I taught at Grand Rapids Christian High – 3 bands and jazz band – and was the department chair overseeing K-12 band, orchestra, choir, and general music. After a break from teaching to be a stay at home mom, I am now helping with the 5-8th grade bands at Hudsonville Christian. Since college I have taught a K-6th choir at my church, Calvin CRC in Grand Rapids, and been involved in other music there. I also enjoy playing flute when possible with various groups in the Grand Rapids area.

And I love meeting new people. I love pondering artistic and philosophical things and I love having non-sensical conversations. And I love yoga. And I love getting together with my extended family.
Philosophical Biography
God created amazing people with diversity and has called us to unity. I think this is amazing and I think band is a beautiful illustration of this: we have many instruments, each with their unique sound and range, that come together to create music written by a talented composer. I think the benefits of music in education are life long and I am thankful to be both parent and teacher at Hudsonville Christian and share in the community that raises these kids.
