Romans 8:38-39

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Professional Biography

I have always loved kids and watching them learn. I went to Hudsonville Public and was involved in their Child Development and Early Childhood courses.  I graduated from Dordt College for Elementary Education with an Art Endorsement in 2014 and have had a range of jobs involving kids.  I moved to Salt Lake City to teach in a Christian School for two years.  I enjoyed the past year getting to know the ins and outs of HCS as a paraprofessional and look forward to shaping 1st graders this year!

Personal Biography

I grew up in Hudsonville, attended Dordt in Sioux Center, Iowa, where I met Shane (who teaches middle school math and science at HCMS), and in 2016, we married and moved out to Utah to teach. We moved back to Michigan in 2018. We love being outdoors, playing with our dog, Chauncey, eating popcorn, and playing games. I love taking photos and being as creative as possible (especially in handwriting and painting. ), spending time with my nieces and nephews, and working on our newly purchased house! We also love going to South Dakota to visit Shane’s family as much as we can.

Philosophical Biography

I love watching students finally understand concepts. My favorite is when their little “light” goes because they didn’t give up. Teaching at HCS has shown me how teachers come alongside students in their struggles in order to achieve success and celebrate with them in that. Because we were created in God’s image, it is important to treat each student as such. I love seeing God’s creative hand in each student I meet, and to be able to show them why God made them different than everyone else.  It brings me peace knowing that I can pray with students and connect with them on a deeper level because of the bond we share as God’s children.
