“…that when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than ever.”
Mrs. Christina Kortering
I am truly delighted to be teaching 5th grade at Hudsonville Christian Elementary School. I am a graduate from Calvin College with an elementary education degree with an emphasis in Language Arts and Integrated Science in 2007.
My home is in Holland, where I live with my husband, Matt, and my golden retriever, Bella. On the weekends, I enjoy giving guitar lessons, running, and cooking. I attend Ridge Point Community Church where I am the high school worship leader, small group leader, and often play or sing on their worship team.
I believe that it is a true blessing to have the opportunity to teach in a Christian School. If you page through the book of Acts, and look at the kind of community that came from knowing Jesus and having His Holy Spirit present, it is unmatched and unable to be replicated without the presence of God. It is my belief that if we, as Christian educators, value building up students in Jesus Christ and forming a community on Him, we might be able to grow in the same way as the early church. If students are equipped with the knowledge of their Creator and the world around them, they can make a great impact in their community at home, school and throughout the greater community of Hudsonville.
One Bible verse I always try to meditate on is Ephesians 3:20-21 it says, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” I do this because I love being reminded that God has some amazing things in store for us as a Christian community, and that we (as students, parents and staff members) can rest in the knowledge that He is in control. What a privilege to work in a place where we are able to build each other up in God’s word! I truly feel blessed to teach here at Hudsonville Christian, and I continually feel blessed to witness God’s movement in this place.
