Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord your God is with you, He is MIGHTY to save.  He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Mrs. Emily Bareman

Professional Biography

I graduated from Calvin with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-5 and Cognitive Impairment K-12 in May of 2003.  Upon graduating, I taught two years at Holland Christian, with the first year being an inclusion teacher in their middle school, and then moving up to the high school inclusion classroom as the special education teacher there.  In the spring of 2005, I was offered a 4th grade teaching job at Grandville Christian School and started there in the fall, teaching for two and a half years before becoming a stay at home mom in January 2008.  Soon after completing my undergrad, I decided to start my master’s degree at Calvin in Learning Disabilities.  I received my Masters in LD in May of 2008.  While being blessed to be a stay at home mom, I also substitute taught occasionally at Grandville Christian and Hudsonville Christian, and also worked from home for Adoption Associates, Inc. as a proofreader.  In the fall of 2015, I started in the role of Educational Support staff paraprofessional and have worked with a variety of students individually or in small groups at HCS the last four years.

Personal Biography

I have been married to Mitch for 16 years, and we have been blessed with 3 children- Kaden, Makenna, and Ainsley- who all attend HCS.  Our family attends Hillcrest CRC where I enjoy helping in the children’s ministries.  For hobbies, I enjoy running and exercising, reading, sewing and crafting, and I also love taking pictures of my family and all of our activities.  As a family, we have many interests together.  We love traveling, having family time at home, playing sports and attending sporting events, and also being at our family cottage and spending time in the water there during the summer.

Philosophical Biography

I love working with children of all ages and seeing God’s creativity in how He created each child so uniquely and in His image.  My desire as a teacher is to connect with each of my students individually, share God’s love with them, and seek to help them use their God-given gifts to the best of their ability as a student.  I always strive to encourage my students and be positive with them, helping them focus on their strengths.  I am so happy to be teaching at a school where every child is valued and included regardless of ability, just as Jesus welcomed all the little children.  I feel so blessed to be a part of the HCS staff and to connect with students; helping them grow in their knowledge and faith throughout the year!  As a parent, I have felt God at work in HCS when I attend chapels, parent/teacher conferences, classroom activities, school events, field trips, and during volunteer opportunities at school, and I am so thankful to be able to teach at HCS where the focus is on The One.
