“Jesus replied:’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Mrs. Emily Pettinga
I graduated from Dordt University in 2005 with a BA in Elementary Education and Minor in Reading. I taught at NorthPointe Christian in Grand Rapids from 2005 – 2010. I stepped aside from teaching in 2010 to stay home with our daughter and I opened my own in-home daycare. In 2013, I joined the staff at Hudsonville Christian Elementary as a Paraprofessional with the Educational Support Services team. I am excited to continue my teaching journey at Hudsonville Christian as a fourth grade teacher! I look forward to the good work Christ is accomplishing in and through staff and students at Hudsonville Christian.
My husband and I live in Grandville. We have a daughter and a son. As a family we enjoy all outdoor activities: camping, hiking, swimming, biking, and visiting as many National Parks as we can. I enjoy cooking, baking, gardening and reading in my free time.
I count myself blessed to be able to work with all God’s children in the field of education. In Matthew 22:37 Jesus says the greatest of all the commandments is, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” This verse is my model for my life and my teaching. I believe my neighbor is not only my actual neighbor but also my family, the students I interact with, my co-workers, my community and those that live across the world. I believe all God’s children are unique, special and created with a purpose. I hope to treat each child the way their heavenly Father would; with love, compassion and dignity. It is my privilege to partner with parents at Hudsonville Christian School in challenging minds and lives for Christ.
