1 John 3:1
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.”
Mrs. Gwen DeLong
Professional Biography
I have been blessed by Christian schools my entire life. I attended Jenison Christian, Unity Christian and Calvin College where I received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I have also completed my master’s degree in educational technology through Grand Valley State University. After college, I taught for four years at Fremont Christian School and then three years at Zeeland Christian School. I have taught children from kindergarten to 8th grade math, science, computer and library. After having my children, I returned to teaching as a 3 School aide, a 4 School teacher and now a Kindergarten teacher. I love leading students in the joy of learning, the discovery of new skills, and building community together.
Personal Biography
My husband Troy and I have lived in Fremont, Grand Haven and Hudsonville. We have four daughters who attend HCS, Unity and Calvin University. They fill our hearts and our calendars! As a family, we enjoy camping, playing outside, being at the lake and board games. I also enjoy going for a run, relaxing with a book and serving at our church, Fairway CRC.
Philosophical Biography
I love Christian education because of the emphasis that is placed on every student being a child of God. As a parent and a teacher the most important thing I can teach a child is that he/she is loved and valued by God. I do this by modeling God’s love, leading our class in songs and prayers of praise and building a grace-filled classroom community. Together, my students and I can celebrate that we are each a unique child of God!
