“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Mrs. Henrietta Konynenbelt
I am a graduate of Calvin College, and I attended Western Michigan University where I received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. From 1991-2017, I taught grades 4,5, and 6 at West Side Christian School. Some of the highlights of my teaching career have been serving on committees such as Spiritual Life, Multi-age Elementary Teams, and Spelling Bee. I have also coached Girls On The Run for 4 years. In 2017, I received a 3rdgrade position at HCS. It has been a joy and blessing to serve at HCS. This is a caring community of believers.
I spent my childhood in the rural farm area of northwest New Jersey. I have lived most of my adult life in Hudsonville. I am married, and I have two college-aged children. My hobbies include running, backpacking, and scuba diving. I enjoy the outdoors and discovering God’s creation. I have also made several mission trips to Guatemala, serving the schools and community there.
I am motivated to teach in a way that allows students to discover God’s world and live in awe and wonder for Him and for His creation. My goal is to build a Christian community in the classroom and have the students build relationships with others as they discover their God-given gifts. I find joy in teaching the students how God cares for each one of them, and I am inspired when students show love for each other and those in the greater community. The privilege of teaching in a Christian school is partnering with parents as we work together and teach the children to live as Christ’s examples in the world. I am thankful for the opportunity to help each child grow educationally and spiritually as Christ’s servants. It is a gift to show the children how God works in all things and through all things, and my goal is to share Christ’s love every day!
