Mrs. Jen Large

Professional Biography

I was born and raised in Wayland and graduated from Wayland Union High School.  After spending a year at Grand Rapids Community College, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. I spent four years active duty, stationed in places like Sicily and Myrtle Beach, before completing my military service with four years in the Air National Guard. I graduated from GVSU with a degree in K-12 physical education. I started working at HCS as a substitute teacher, enjoying the opportunity to be involved in many different classrooms and grades at both the elementary school and the middle school. Through the years, I have also enjoyed coaching basketball, volleyball and softball at the middle school. In 2019, I was on staff at Unity Christian High School as a para-pro working in special education. I am thrilled and feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to be back at HCMS!

Personal Biography

My husband Forrest and I have been married 23 years and have two amazing kids, Hayden and Olivia, who both went through Hudsonville Christian. Hayden is now a sophomore at Dordt University and Olivia is a senior at Unity. As a family, we have spent a lot of time watching and supporting our kids as they have participated in various activities and athletics through the years. Personally, I enjoy physical exercise and activities like running, biking and hiking, and have competed in numerous running races and triathlons. We live in Hudsonville and have a 5-year-old Golden Retriever named Buddy, who also loves to take walks.

Philosophical Biography

I am so thankful and excited to be a member of the team here at HCMS. We, as faculty and staff, have a wonderful opportunity to come along side our students as they grow in their walk with the Lord and in their faith and I feel blessed to be a part of their journey. I believe God has created everyone with unique gifts and abilities and it is my goal to help all our students recognize and develop their God given talents. I also believe in the value of a Christian education and have seen firsthand how HCMS can have a life changing impact on kids who are going through some very challenging formative years.
