Mrs. Jessica Van Kley
Professional Biography
I grew up in Hudsonville where I attended Hudsonville Christian School and Unity Christian High School. I went on to Calvin University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating from Calvin, I accepted a position as a Response to Intervention (RTI) teacher at Knapp Charter Academy in Grand Rapids. After a few years as an RTI teacher, I moved into a first grade teaching position and I taught first grade for seven years. I have also taken classes toward my Master’s Degree in Literacy Studies and I hope to continue working towards that goal. While I thoroughly enjoyed teaching in a public school, I felt God leading me back to a Christian school setting. I’m excited to use my passion for students and love for teaching at Hudsonville Christian School.
Personal Biography
I live in Jenison with my husband Ryan and my son Bryson. Bryson is thrilled to be attending Hudsonville Christian School this year. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, playing golf, gardening, making crafts and enjoying nature at our cabin up north.
Philosophical Biography
It is my honor and privilege to teach children each day, helping to mold them into lifelong learners and guiding them in their spiritual journey. I believe in meeting students at their independent ability level and providing support to help them grow, differentiating for individual needs. It is my prayer that every one of my students not only knows God, but chooses to love Him with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. I pray that I will be an example to the students and will guide them in developing a deep spiritual relationship with the Lord Jesus. My goal is to prepare students to go into the world as educated citizens, showing God’s love and light to everyone.
