Professional Biography
I attended Calvin College (University) earning a B.A. in Secondary Math Education with a minor in Physical Education. I also have a Masters in Education in Instruction and Curriculum through Grand Valley State University. Upon graduating from Calvin, I spent a semester substitute teaching and assisting the swim program at Calvin College before moving to Edina, Minnesota to teach at Calvin Christian School. After two years of teaching middle school math, Bible, and physical education, I returned home to be closer to family. I spent a year substitute teaching and again assisting the swim program at Calvin before finding my place at Hudsonville Christian Middle School. I taught 8th grade math and Bible for eight years and middle school girls’ PE for six years. While teaching PE, I also took on the role of Nurturing Faith Coordinator and currently serve as Director of Faith Formation.
Personal Biography
My husband, Rick, and I were married in 2008. We have walked “down the aisle” twice together in our lives. The first time was when we were paired to walk into our high school graduation ceremony and the second, of course, on our wedding day! We are the proud parents of our two boys, Carson and Cameron. We love to spend time together in God’s creation, especially at the beach or on the water.
Philosophical Biography
I believe Christian schools are uniquely positioned to transform the world for Jesus Christ through the education of all God’s children. In a world with shifting values and morals, we stand firm on the truth found only in God’s infallible Word. What a privilege it is to partner with parents and staff as students grow in their understanding of God, His world, and who they are in His Kingdom!
