Professional Biography

As a child I attended Hudsonville Christian School where I was truly inspired to become a teacher.  That inspiration turned into reality as I became a graduate of Calvin College where I received a B.A. in Elementary Education with minors in Language Arts and Social Studies.  After graduating from Calvin College, I was hired by Hudsonville Christian School to teach third grade in 1999.  The first classroom I taught third grade in was actually the same classroom I attended third grade in.  It certainly is exciting to see where God leads you!

Personal Biography

I have been blessed with a wonderful family!  I married my husband in 2002 and we have a daughter, and three sons.  They are the joy of our lives!  As a family, we enjoy spending time camping outdoors in God’s beautiful creation!

Philosophical Biography

I realize that I have been given a great responsibility as a teacher training children about themselves and their place in God’s world.  I recognize that each child is an image bearer of God created with awesome abilities. God has called me to help these precious children grow in their relationship with Him but also grow in their knowledge of His marvelous world.  Each year I marvel at how my third graders show a love for the Lord daily.  I want to enhance that sense in each one of my students.  I believe that God calls me to help each child in my classroom stand in awe before their personal Lord and Savior.  God’s power can be seen in every subject area I teach and it is my goal to help the students realize that no one else but God could create such a world that brings so much joy to us.  Knowing that I can share my love for the Lord with each child in my classroom while also teaching them about God’s marvelous world gives me great joy in my calling as a Christian educator.  I thank God daily for the joy that I receive from my calling to teach His children.
