Mrs. Kristen Koetje
I grew up in Grandville. I graduated from Aquinas College in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education with a Major in Language Arts and a minor in Social Studies. I completed my Masters of Special Education with Learning Disabilities in the summer of 2019 at Grand Valley State University. I find it rewarding to discover a child’sunique learning style. I started teaching third grade at Hudsonville Christian in the fall of 2016. In 2022 I started teaching in the Middle School as a Special Education Teacher.
I have spent my adult life in the Jenison/Hudsonville Area. I am married to Brian Koetje and attend Georgetown Christian Reformed Church. Brian and I are proud parents of four children who never allow us to have a dull moment! Our oldest son was born in 2006. Our second son was born in 2009 and our twins arrived in 2011. We enjoy spending time together taking walks, riding bikes, traveling and watching movies.
It is my prayer that each of my students will know God as their personal Savior, see God in their learning and understand that they are capable of great things! I feel that teaching is the best job in the world! We all learn differently and I enjoy addressing the needs of all my students. Building each other up is key to creating a safe environment where everyone feels important and included. The best part about teaching in a Christian school is when God opens my eyes to opportunities where I can share my faith openly. At devotion time, I enjoy sharing personal stories and learning with my students how to listen to God’sWord and apply it to our lives. Partnering with parents to provide a Christ-centered education is a gift. You are sending me one of your most precious gifts and they will be loved as if they were one of “my kids.” Being a Christian school teacher is such a blessing!
