“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Mrs. Laura DeJong
I graduated from Calvin College in 2006 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with a focus on Science and Language Arts. In 2013, I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my Master’s degree in Educational Differentiation. When I began working at Hudsonville Christian Middle School in 2006, I taught 7th grade Science and Bible. I taught in 6th and 7th grade classrooms for eight years. Starting in 2014, I began to work in the Middle School library and media center.
I live in Grand Rapids with my husband and two children. We are involved in the youth ministries at Sherman Street CRC and love to support Camp Roger. I enjoy running, reading good books, spending time with my family, and being outside in God’s creation.
I believe that as a teacher, I have the great responsibility to love, appreciate and teach God’s children, created in His image to do His work in this world. I hope that students discover how God is at work in His world by learning more about the world He has created and the people He works in and through. Stories, both informational and fiction, can open our eyes to the people around us and the greatness and love of God. I hope and pray that when students are in my class or library, they will be able to better understand how they can bring about His kingdom and His will on this earth!
