Professional Biography
I graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a Math/Science Group major. I taught 2nd grade at Lamont Christian School and worked with curriculum at Christian Schools International. Personal Biography
My husband, Jeff, and I have lived in Hudsonville for over 25 years. Before that we lived in Belmont and Allendale. The Lord has blessed us with 5 children who all attended Hudsonville Christian School and Unity Christian. Jon, Joel, and Jake are married while Josh and Alyssa are in college. Emily, Nicole, and Riley have been a blessed addition along with Elly and Grayson, our grandchildren so far. Besides spending time with the family, I enjoy gardening, being outdoors, hiking, and some sewing and crocheting.
Philosophical Biography
Children have always been important to me. I marvel at how they develop mentally and spiritually while they process the world around them. Each child is so unique, a true blessing from the Lord. My favorite part of teaching is guiding students to that “Ah, Ha” moment when they understand a new concept, especially with ones they have been struggling.
I see Christian education as surrounding each child with Christ. Teaching the curriculum from a Christian perspective is important; however, Christian education encompasses more than that. No matter what a child encounters, there will be a Christian guiding, embracing, comforting, and rejoicing with him. Every part of the day is the opportunity to partner with you and point a child to Christ. My prayer is that all the children and adults I encounter will see Christ living within me.
