Professional Biography
My name is Samantha (Sam) Ekdom and I am honored to be part of the Educational Support Staff team here at Hudsonville Christian! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Calvin College in 2013. I have certifications in K-12 Special Education: Cognitive Impairment and K-5 Elementary Education.
Personal Biography
I was born and raised in Holland, MI and graduated from Holland Christian in 2009. I went on to study at Calvin College (go Knights!). Now I live in Wyoming and attend Harbor Life Church in Grandville. The Lord has provided me with a wonderful husband, Jeff.
Philosophical Biography
God deeply loves each child that steps foot in our school and He made every child in His image. I believe that I am called by Him to love and teach His kids. Because ALL children are unique, special and gifted in different areas, it is extremely important to me to educate the whole child. I certainly challenge, stretch and coach children in rigorous academic adventures. However, I also place utmost importance on teaching them about accepting and displaying God’s love. I emphasize compassion, selflessness and servanthood as we follow Jesus’ example.
I believe that each child can succeed with the right skills and tools. It is my mission to foster a relationship with kids so they feel safe and loved at school first and foremost. Then, I can help students succeed by aiding with appropriate content, delivery and classroom environment. I am grateful to the Lord for the chance to work with His kids!
