Professional Biography
I am a Grand Valley State University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in English and Education and minor in Elementary Education. I have worked in several schools and have had the privilege of being a classroom teacher to 3rd, 4th and 6th grade students. I have also been a paraprofessional and a library specials teacher. I am so excited to have joined the 5thgrade team and the Hudsonville Christian family, it’s a beautiful community to be a part of.
Personal Biography
I am very close with my immediate family, my mom, dad, brother and sister in law, as well as my extended family. We love spending time together, we always seem to end up laughing hysterically and making the best memories. I currently live in Grand Rapids. One of my passions is worship. I am a volunteer worship leader at my church, The Local Church GR. When I’m not with my family or making music with my friends I’m usually outside, relaxing in the sun (when it’s here), going for a walk or I’m at the beach.
Philosophical Biography
I believe that we are all created in the image of God. As an educator and a follower of Jesus, I seek to see how God sees my students. I seek to see who they are becoming, who He has called them to be. Not only am I looking for Him in them, I’m looking to walk alongside them, guide them, teach and learn with them, about God and about the world. I believe it is a privilege to spend each day with children, they have such a valuable view of the life happening to them and around them, and I am humbled that I get to be a part of that.
I also believe that in order to learn, we need to do stuff! It is my goal to have an active classroom, where we get to move and create. I truly believe that kids don’t have to wait to grow up to have an impact on their community or the world, they can be making a difference right now. I aim to create a classroom environment that is safe, engaging, fun and meaningful. I pray that the Lord allows for no one to leave each year unchanged, that He would grow us, stretch us, and prune us, so we may bear fruit and be more like Him.
