Ms. Camelia Meindertsma

Professional Biography

I grew up in the Grand Rapids Christian School system, however, I attended Zoo School at John Ball Zoo for my sixth-grade year. Loving West Michigan, I decided to stay and attend college at Grand Valley State University. I am currently a senior studying clinical exercise science and Spanish with hopes of becoming a pediatric physical therapist. Over the past two summers I have worked with kids and have loved every minute of it. I enjoy fostering environments where kids can play and learn and I look forward to the energy that they bring.

Personal Biography

I grew up the youngest of three kids. As a child, I remember always playing outside. That love of the outdoors hasn’t lessened. I enjoy running, walking trails and spending my free time at the beach. In 2016 I ran the 5/3rd Riverbank Run and in May of 2019 I ran my first marathon. At college, I’m involved in Campus Ministry—a Christian ministry club that serves the students at Grand Valley. This past year I was an intern with Campus Ministries and loved working alongside our teachers on the program team.

Philosophical Biography

I believe that play is one of the most important things in the lives of kids. Through play kids learn values such as respect for others and good sportsmanship all while having fun and burning lots of energy. As an after school childcare aid, I want to provide a safe environment where kids can learn and grow in the ways of Jesus.
