Heather Wolters – 4-Day Kindergarten

Hello! My name is Heather Wolters and I am so excited to join the HCS community. I have been married to my husband Joel for 11 years and we have 3 kids: Emersyn (5), Graysen ( 2 1/2), and Brooks (11 months). For the past 10 years I taught full day Great Start to Readiness preschool at Hudsonville Public Schools. When I’m not teaching, I love to go camping, read, and spend time with family. I am really looking forward to sharing the love of Jesus each day with my students!

Angie Scholten – Elementary ESS Coordinator

Hello HCS family! I am so excited to join the staff at HCS. I love being a parent at HCS and am looking forward to being part of the staff as well. I have been a classroom teacher for 20 years and am excited to support and encourage students at HCS. I have my Masters as a Reading Specialist and love all things reading. I am married to Ben, and I am mom to Andrew(17), Isaac(13), and Lauren(11). I am looking forward to worshiping and growing in Christ with the HCS community!

Alayna Visser – Educational Support Services Teacher

Hello! My name is Alayna Visser, and I’m excited to be joining the Hudsonville Christian community this year as part of the Support Services team. Before coming to HCS, I worked at Zeeland Christian, where I had the opportunity to support students and build meaningful relationships with families and staff. At home, my husband, Seth, and I stay busy with our two boys, Sutton (4) and Emmett (2). In my free time, I enjoy cooking, getting lost in a good book, and spending as much time outdoors as possible with my family. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of the HCS community and look forward to seeing how God works throughout this school year.

Madelyn (MJ) Pape – 7th Grade ELA

Hello everyone! My name is Madelyn (MJ) Pape and I will be stepping into the seventh grade ELA position this fall. I am SO excited to be joining the HCMS team! I graduated from Hope College in May after a wonderful semester of student teaching at Hamilton Middle School. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy cooking and baking, reading good books, hiking, and watching Michigan football. I am one year married to my wonderful husband, Zachariah. Can’t wait to meet you all and begin the year!

Joel DeVries – 8th Grade Bible

My name is Joel DeVries and I will be teaching Bible classes for the 8th graders this year. I am very excited to join the Hudsonville Christian school community. I have taught many different subject areas in my career, but teaching Bible classes is my favorite. I love helping students grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and then seeing how that understanding can lead to greater faith in God and worship of Jesus Christ as our Savior. I am eager to teach from the Love God, Love Others Bible curriculum and to help students explore the context behind the accounts we read. I am looking forward to a great year at HCS.

Melissa Wieringa – Middle School Counselor

Hello! My name is Melissa Wieringa, and I’m thrilled to be the new Middle School Counselor. I’m really looking forward to working with the wonderful staff at HCMS to help students, staff, and families create a school that’s centered around Christ, where everyone can learn and grow. For the past 16 years, I’ve been a School Social Worker in a K-8th grade school. I’m excited to bring my experience and love for God to help students with their social and emotional well-being. I’m married to Matt, and we have three kids, one daughter-in-law, a kitty and two grand dogs. We enjoy traveling, playing games, learning to watercolor paint, and spending quality time with our family. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and becoming part of the amazing HCS team.

Idelle Wagner – Assistant Band Director

Hi, I am Idelle Wagner, a retired music/band/choir teacher. I last taught at West Side Christian School, but have been helping as a band assistant at Jenison Christian School the last couple years as well as subbing in several Christian Schools. I was the choir director and organist for over 30 years at 12th Ave. CRC before they closed their doors. I also was the band assistant at HCS back in the early 90’s for Ron Veenstra and Dave Kolmodin.  I am also known as Mr. Bob’s wife (part time custodian in the elementary school). We are blessed with 3 married daughters, who have blessed us with 10 grandchildren. I enjoy working with students, helping them learn more about music through playing an instrument.  I am a HCS graduate, and things are quite different from back then, but doing God’s kingdom work (sharing His love) is the same.

Shanley Kruizenga – Assistant Band Director

Hi! My name is Shanley Kruizenga. I am an active musician and instructor in the West Michigan area, having taught with Zeeland Public Schools, West Ottawa Public Schools, Holland Christian Schools, Hamilton Community Schools, and more. I am the Assistant Principal Percussionist with Holland Symphony Orchestra and enjoy exploring sounds! I have 3 young kids and my husband is the Pastor of Worship at Overisel Reformed Church.  I am excited to join the HCS staff as a Band Assistant, and I am looking forward to helping students learn more about music and the masterful Creator behind the wonder and beauty we get to experience through music.

Daniella Kamps – Kids’ Corner Aide

My name is Daniella Kamps, and I’m excited to join Kids Corner this year. I’m entering my third year at Calvin University, where I’m studying elementary education, and I’m eager to gain more classroom experience. Growing up in West Michigan, I’m grateful for the chance to be part of the Hudsonville Christian community and support students in a Christ-centered environment.

My name is Jess Petroelje and I am so excited to be joining the Kids Corner team this year! I am a mom of three girls and love spending time with my family, staying active, running, and enjoying the outdoors.
